The Koinonia Foundation of Wake Forest is a nondenominational Christian organization founded in 1990 by a caring and concerned group of Christians known as the Koinonia Sunday School Class of Wake Forest Baptist Church. The Foundation quickly expanded its charter to include all caring and concerned people regardless of denomination and became dedicated to spreading Good News by serving those in need.
The Foundation endeavors to provide financial support for other organizations that address human needs that are not otherwise adequately funded. The Foundation also provides support to individuals whose needs are not fully met by other funding organizations.
The Koinonia Foundation of Wake Forest is legally registered with the state of North Carolina and federally registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The term Koinonia is a Greek word that means 'communion with others by act of intimate participation'. This word is frequently used in the New Testament and is translated as fellowship, participation, contribution, and sharing.
